Say no more!
How I got my groove back! March 29, 2013
I used to be an avid scrap booker- until my second child came along. After Logan came along, I could barely find time to take a shower, let alone do any crafts. Luckily I kept up with my love of photography over these past four years.
In the past year, I’ve finally found my inspiration again. It’s been helped along by a great combination of the kids getting old enough to play quietly while I craft, along with new friends who also like crafting.
There is something I love about looking at pictures and telling a story about them. Looking back at a photograph is one thing, but adding some nice journaling and pretty artwork makes any picture a work of art.
Take this recent scrapbook page, for example. These are snapshots from my phone of Logan as we went through the car wash recently. They’re cute pictures on their own, but they never would have made it off my phone if I hadn’t otherwise found my inspiration again!
I’ve been learning some new craft techniques for cards, stamping and more. What’s your favorite trend in paper crafting these days? I’d love to find even more inspiration!
We found Cinderella! November 27, 2012
We had a great time in Disney. 10 relaxing days, in which I had to stop and figure out what day it was. I call that a gauge of a good vacation- when your brain can really shut off from the outside world. We’re on the Magical Express on our way to the airport, and I’m trying to hold off on the real-world for as long as possible!
I’ll pretend that I’m still looking at this for as long as possible!
We had a lovely trip, and got to watch the nighttime shows at Magic Kingdom, Epcot and Hollywood Studios. We saw the amazing Osbourne Festival of Dancing lights (quite a sight if you’ve never been!). While Katelyn cried and didn’t want to ride some of her favorites like The Barnstormer, Logan rode everything he was allowed to. He rode his first big roller coaster- Big Thunder Mountain Railroad- twice, and Splash Mountain too. He wanted to ride with Uncle JJ, and loved all of it.
My favorite park day day was Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas party. We started the day by getting Katelyn dressed up like Cinderella at the Bippity Boppity Boutique. She sure cleans up nicely, don’t you think?
Afterwards, we headed to the holiday party. It sure did get me in the Christmas mood! Plenty of hot cocoa and cookies to go around, short lines for a few last chances at some of our favorite rides, holiday carols sung by Mickey and the gang, and the most amazing fireworks display I’ve ever seen! We ended the night by watching the Christmas Parade, which was beyond wonderful. Between the snow falling on Main Street, the Toy Soldiers and seeing Santa himself come down the street, I was in Christmas heaven. I think I’m spoiled for any holiday parades now though!
We’re excited to go home and see the puppies, I heard it snowed while we’ve been gone, and that Barley loved playing in it. There is a lot to do and look forward to in these next few weeks… We’ve got a tree to put up, cookies to bake, garland to hang and presents to wrap! Bring on the Holidays!!!
Bring on the Disney! November 16, 2012
So we’re lucky enough to have become Disney Vacation Club members. For those not familiar with it, it’s basically a time share on Disney property. We’re getting ready to go on our 3rd trip in 3 years to the House of the Mouse and I can’t wait!
We’ll be down there for 10 days with my mother-in-law and brother-in-law, and will celebrate both my Birthday and Thanksgiving while there. 🙂
For me, there is nothing like being on a true vacation- away from the daily grind of the house, and the call of my home-office. Add in a bit of Disney magic to that, and I’m in heaven!
Here are a few pictures from last year that I’ve been looking at to get in the mood. Updates from this year are sure to come!
The Hulk will save you! October 1, 2012
I’m not sure why boys seem to be harder to potty train than girls, but Logan must’ve heard that once and decided to be a textbook example for me. We’ve been on and off with the whole thing since April (a whole six months!) before Logan finally
got bribed decided he was ready to be a Big Boy for real.
Once he got the big boy undies on full-time, we had to make good on the bribe. And what does a 3 year old boy who loves to play dress up want? The Incredible Hulk costume of course! We went to the mall on Friday night to find it, and Logan was so excited that he could barely leave the store before begging us to put it on him. So, we put it on him in the middle of the mall and let him proudly walk around in the costume. We’ll be in big trouble when it’s Halloween time!
Just call me Corn on the Cob! September 9, 2012
The month of August is torture for me at work… Hence no time lately for any blog posts or much of the things that I find to be truly fun or relaxing. It’s why I take joy in the little things my family does to make my long days tolerable.
Like peanut butter and jelly for example! My 3 year old son was on his way home with his dad and sister one day recently when he decided to start calling everyone by the names of ingredients of his favorite sandwich- a PB and J of course! Logan was bread, Katelyn was Jelly and Dad was Peanut Butter. Best of all, you could put them all together for a family hug and make a PB and J sandwich! I asked later that night if I could be bread too. Logan sized me up and said “No, you’re corn on the cob!”. Thankfully in his mind, that goes perfect with a sandwich!
I love his creativity, and hearing him call out, “hey Peanut Butter, let’s make a sandwich”. I’ll drop anything to become the corn on the cob to his bread! 🙂
Family Shot August 3, 2012
So we had a blast in Michigan- which reminded me that 5 years is far too long to be away from there.
I had such a good time- between the fishing, horseback riding, kayaking and more. The best part was catching up with family though.
My family had a little cookout in our honor- smoked ribs, turkey, macaroni and potato salads and much more. But the best part for me was seeing so much of my dad’s side of the family in one place. Two of his sisters, one brother, his parents, four of my cousins and four of their kids playing with Katelyn and Logan. It was so nice to hear the laughter and hear the many stories as we passed the night away.
Before anyone could sneak away, I grabbed this group shot. It’s probably the first I have of that size in over 20 years. I love my family!!
